Arap Tavasi



 

Ingredients :


250 gr ground beef
2 tablespoonful  margarine
6 tomatoes chopped into cubes
6 green peppers
3 – 4 clove of garlic
Salt, pepper


Preparation


Combine the margarine with the ground beef in a pan and stir until mixed well.  Cook beef over medium- high heat and when excess water from the ground meat is absorbed add the onion which is chopped in cubes. Add the salt and the pepper and continue cooking. When the ground meat is ready pour it on a baking dish and spread the tomatoes over it. Finally cut the green peppers, add the garlic and stir well. Bake at 175 C for 25 minutes without adding any water.
 

Istanbul Pilaf



 

Ingredients:


2 glasses  of long – grain rice
100 gr almonds slivered
2 tablespoonful  butter
1 pinch saffron
Half a teaspoon of sugar
Boiled chicken meat chopped into small pieces
1 cup of peas
3 glasses water
1 pinch ginger
2 tablespoonful pistachios  soaked in hot water, drained an peeled
Salt
  

Preparation:

Wash the rice, cover it with hot salty water for an hour and then drain it. Melt 2 tablespoonfuls of butter in a pan and sauté the blanched slivered almonds. Add the saffron and stir well. Then, add the rice, salt, sugar and the chicken. Afterwards, add the peas with the three glasses of water. Cook it over medium heat. When the rice is ready add a pinch of ginger. Sprinkle with pistachios.
